The details of the case, which has gotten a bit heated with Santa Monica police saying "the family's having the media call us, alleging we aren't doing anything," are as follows:

A white sedan slammed into Slifer, 57, in a crosswalk on Colorado Avenue near Fifth Street at about 12:45 a.m. Saturday, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.

After breezing through the crosswalk, the driver of the vehicle failed to stop for the collision and continued northbound on 5th Street to Broadway, where they turned right and continued eastbound out of sight.

In a press release Tuesday, Santa Monica police said they have no information on the driver. The car was described as a late 1990's to early 2000 sedan, white, with a sunroof and tinted rear windows.
