Chris Rado has been busy for the past few years building the fastest, wildest front-wheel drive time attack car the world has seen. He can rest assured he was testing the boundaries of what's possible when his 1,200 horsepower Scion TC simply exploded.

Technically, the cam locked up when a sensor failed, sending a rod straight through the engine block. That set off the fire, which the car's built-in fire extinguisher failed to put out. Rado was able to get free and extinguish the fire himself without any injury.
