Tomorrow is Tax Day. This year's average tax refund is $2899 — approximately what most people use for a down payment on a new vehicle. But that doesn't make sense, especially when there's still so many great used cars out there. Assuming you received the average tax refund — and you didn't have anything else to spend your refund on — what's the best vehicle you can buy?
The only two certainties in life are death and taxes, and having obliged the latter, it's time to pick a vehicle that'll forestall the former. Thus, there's only one answer — a Toyota truck. Preferably a diesel-engined Hilux pickup from the 80s. They're bulletproof and the closest thing in the automotive world to immortality.
(QOTD is your chance to address the day's most pressing automotive questions and to experience the opinions of the insightful insiders, practicing pundits, and gleeful gearheads that make up the Jalopnik commentariat.
