Saturday brought all all the teams to the Daytona Speedway as the day was short and the need for testing time large. All the big guns of the Grand-Am Rolex DP and GT were out in the morning practice session to find where time could be gained and the limits tested.

Continental Tire was out as well with the BMWs from Bimmerworld taking the fight to the rest of the field with positive results across the board. In the Daytona Prototype category the new Chevy Corvette DP campaigned by SunTrust racing took the top spot in the final night practice. In GT, the Risi 458 GT took the top spot in the final session, a positive note to end the day as this is only the second day of official testing for the Italian automaker in Rolex competition.

Night brings out the anger in many drivers as all wanted to set a fast time and with limited night practice available everyone wanted their turn to turn at Daytona. Two Ferraris came together, leaving the ESM 458 limping through the infield to get their damaged 458 back to the pits.

The 01 Dinan-powered Ginassi car also had an early exit with contact. As with every session, the Mazdas were putting on a display. Every downshift provides the fans with a little excitement as fire dances from the open exhaust.
