Bill Caswell became famous for telling Jalopnik of his adventures taking a $500 Craigslist car and beating $400K rally machines to stand on the podium at last year's Rally Mexico. Now he's doing LeMons in an E30.
It would be right to point out that winning a race in a $500 Craigslist car in a series of nothing but $500 cars isn't that impressive. Especially not with his experience and racing background… until you read his tale of dodging a moon buggy to beat out a motorcycle-engined Geo.
Per Caswell in one of his many hilarious emails:
I actually nearly cost us the race when a little moon buggy wandered across the track at turn one as I was passing around the outside. I ended up in the grass fast in 4 gear on the outside of a corner with a bridge coming. I got it back on track having passed the moon buggy in the grass but wheels off is a penalty in lemons.
But the second place car that assumed the lead, a motorcycle engined geo metro, made contact in the chicane thing and received the same penalty resetting the order which we held to the finish. That's POS racing's little "Greta" that won.
This is Team POS Racing's second win, although the Opel is the real winner.
