Another Carrera GT, another four-year service interval. This Nürburgring denizen had logged over 13,000 miles when its owner decided to combine the typical engine-out job with full paint-correction detail. A full photographic record lets us follow along [Rennlist].

Cleaning of the underneath parts, exhaust and whatnot. Those pipes running down the center feed water to the radiators at the front of the car.

Fast forward and the clutch is out. Time to take out the Vernier caliper and see if ol' ledfoot is burning down the house. The like-new reading is 31mm; this one is just under 30mm, suggesting 33% wear and a 40,000-mile lifespan. Hallelujah.

Now for the four-year service. Mainly, it's a matter of checking valve clearances, changing spark plugs and stamping it with a gold star. Metaphorically, of course.

Off come the seats for a good cleaning of the carbon-fiber tub. That and to fix a chip in the footwell.

Bye-bye bug splatted and rock-chipped paint shield. After some paint freshening by the detailing boys, a new shield goes on.
