What's Your Best Used Car Buying Tip?

Some of the best cars are ones no longer made. That means turning to the used car market. Many of us have done it. Many of us are planning to do it. What's your best used car buying tip?

Walk away. Just walk away. Seriously. Be willing to walk away. You've got a money order for $2,500 burning a hole in your pocket and you're not going to be happy until that 128 Spyder is in your life. But it doesn't have an engine and the guy claims it's a one-owner car yet the owner's manual is clearly signed by a Marsha Brandanaquitz. Also, there's no convertible top for it. And the "minor rust" is actually everywhere. The hardest thing to do is walk away from the car you want, but unless it's a one-of-a-kind or you've got a lot of money you need to waste you'll be happier trolling Craigslist a little longer.

See if you can help our would-be used car buyers save a dollar based on what makes sense.
