24 Hours Of LeMons BS Inspection Takes Over South Carolina Town, Entire State's Property Values Plummet

What most quiet Southern towns want more than anything else is to block off downtown on Friday afternoon, run a parade of 89 so-called race cars down the main drag, and then endure a LeMons BS Inspection. Welcome to Camden!

All the cars in the second-annual 24 Hours of LeMons South Spring race were trailered to a field about a mile from downtown Camden, then given a police escort into town.

Some of the locals were a bit puzzled by the sight, but it wasn't long before the block-long BS Inspection turned into a huge block party, complete with food vendors, a band, and plenty of baksheesh for the judges.

Can a 15-year-old big Benz get through the inspection with zero penalty laps? Absolutely!

We were probably a bit too lenient on many of the cars, but that's how it works when you're doing inspections during a huge outdoor party.

Here's the 8th "General Lee" in LeMons history.

When it was all over, we headed back to internet-equipped Carolina Motorsports Park, so that I could share these photos of the chaos for y'all. Naturally, several teams were repairing parts they broke during practice laps earlier in the day; here's a transmission destined for a 16-valve Volvo 740 sedan.

Starting Saturday morning, the folks from TrackGeeks will be providing live streaming video coverage of the LeMons racin' action. You'll get in-car live video, Penalty Box highlights, and plenty of cars melting down in the South Carolina heat. Check it out here!
