When we were just lads in elementary school our teacher played for us the song "Hello Muddah, Hello Fadduh" about a kid who despised being at camp. It was based a parody based on Ponchielli's La Gioconda. We didn't know who Amilcare Ponchielli was then. Actually, we didn't really get Opera. But we got funny, and even though borscht belt comedy was a world away, we knew Allan Sherman's bit was hilarious. Sherman achieved only short-lived fame and few could probably name him despite the lasting power of "Hello Muddah, Hello Faddah." It was an influence for song parodists to follow, including the numerous ones on this site. We haven't featured one in a while but Twitchykun gets another COTD for creating a great one based on JT and Audi being BFFs.
