What's The Best Vehicle For Tailgates?

Football season is here, and unless you're a Michigan or Notre Dame fan, there's a lot of happy tailgating to be done. With Matt Millen gone, it's even safe for Lions fans to return to Ford Field to fire up the grille and eat their weight in ribs. But what vehicle should you take to the big game? A tailgating car or truck has to have space to hold a cooler of meats, a bottle of your special sauce, a grille and perhaps even a beverage of some sort. Because of the inebriated people carrying food through the parking lot, it has to stand up to some damage. It has to be large enough to carry people and gear, but comfortable enough to make the long drives to games. To save money for more meats, it should be able to sip gas while stuck in traffic. Given all of these challenges, what is the best vehicle for tailgates?

We're partial to the Dodge Ram 1500 with the extended cab. In addition to being a large truck with plenty of space to haul bros and brats it has that glorious Ram Box, which has the space to carry enough special sauce, sausage, beer and treats to feed a small frat. If you're less inclined toward trucks, a Subaru Outback station wagon packs a large amount of gear and comes with a hard-plastic covering for the storage area perfect for holding a keg and other condensation-prone items.
