While the current hypercar mega-star, the Bugatti Veyron, may be a very impressive piece of machinery, the kids today often forget all about its predecessor. Yes, we're talking about the good ol' EB110, from the decade that brought us the Ferrari F50, Porsche 911 GT1, and McLaren F1. Since then, we've moved onwards and upwards— or have we? While a modern hypercar wafts along with a cozy cabin and an excess reserve of power, the definitive essence of the '90s was that of an unforgiving hardcore attitude. Case in point, this naked Bugatti EB110 Super Sport.
You can forget all about those silly Sang Noir, Pur Sang, or Hermes editon Veyrons. You want a special edition? Have your EB110 GT turned into a Super Sport by Dauer, and you'll up the power of that 3.5-liter V12 from 560 HP up to 650 HP. Sure, you may get 1001 HP from that W16 in a Veyron, but at nearly 4200 pounds, a light car it is not. By comparison, the EB110 SS weighs about 1000 pounds less than that, partially thanks to 330 pounds of weight shed from the GT model. Yet, this still has all the mechanical whiz-bang components like quad-turbos and all-wheel-drive. So while this may be the only unpainted example in existence, if you're lucky enough to get your hands on one of the 30 other units you'll likely be in for an experience much more raw and involving than anything the cocoon of a Veyron can offer.

To paint that carbonfibre would be the equivalent of putting a bag over Natalie Portmans head. We need to be able to see it.
That is not nearly as sexy as the Veyron. It looks like a Corvette/Ferrari Daytona conversion went totally wrong and was mixed in with the Fiero/Countach kit parts. Not a supercar I would want in my driveway.
That has to be the most horrible looking super car I have ever seen.
It looks like it's been frenchified.
Lightest EB110 is only about 500lbs lighter according to wiki, but they are still approximately 3.14158 times more Jalopnik than Veyrons.
It's chassis was made by AƩrospatiale, and even Mr. Peronality Michael Schumacher was seduced by a bright yellow one.

@cgarison: Pontiac Aztek?
Wait, thats not a super car :).
I absolutely love the EB110...probably my favorite supercar of all time. I prefer cornflower blue or bright red, but this is still cool in my book.
@Rust-MyEnemy:
I'll vote for the bag over her head ! Now, Nicole Kidman is HOT and so is the EB110.
Can we put it in the Fantasy Garage ?
Holy panelgaps, Batman!
To Hell with paint; let's coat it in Candy Apply sugar crackle and watch the sunlight play off the surface. That'll work until the first hot-water carwash...
This is hot; but when you start looking at the individual bits, like the Saturn nose with an extension, you think it's kinda weird. But I would still totally accept it as a gift.
@charles_barrett: I've always wanted to paint a car with many thin layers of differently colored semi-water-soluble paint and watch it wear away over the months, Everlasting Gobstopper style.
I have always loved the EB110. All of the Veyrons in the world won't erase that.
Of the EB110's contemporaries, my favorite, stylistically, has always been the XJ220, but the EB110 will always hold a special place for me.
@Naters4:
they're not panel gaps, they're speed holes.
The EB110's body looks like it was designed after the mechanicals, whereas the Veyron's mechanicals were designed to fit inside a specified body.
Function FTW.
To all the haters: balls to that.
The EB110 is responsible for my first ever car-inspired hard-on. Good times.
@Nurburgringer: So it's PI more Jalopnik? I'll agree to that.
The EB has always been one of my favorite hyper-super-duper cars.
@kleinlowe: That could be real fun, especially in a rainy climate like Seattle. Create the "Paintjob of the Month Club". 'Course, if it were sugar-based, you'd have to chase away the kids licking your quarter-panels in the parking lot...
@Nurburgringer: The chassis was made by the company that sells those T-shirts? Huh.
@PolishDon: Sorry, we've used those spaces for the 928 and the 6.9.
my second favorite car next to a '72 Hemi Cuda...the EB110 was the fastest car in the world. Motor Trend even had it faster than the McLaren F1 when the reviewed the bunch
'71 Cuda i mean
I had a folder for Junior High that had a blue one on the cover. It kicked the Ford GT90's ass. Jalopnik, you just reminded me that I love this car, this car that I forgot and left astray, but so deeply, deeply desire. Boy, after falling in love with Robert Mitchum tonight, my heart has been torn asunder.
The EB110 was much more in line with what Ettore built, both aesthetically and mechanically.
Probably the best driving, most useable supercar ever built.
Still my favorite supercar ever.
Has anyone seen the review done by Top Gear on the EB110? It's on youtube.com, when Jeremy Clark is driving it, you can HARDLY hear what he's saying....Now I know supercar's aren't about 'wisper queit performance' but you should beable to hold a convo....Pushing that aside - in this 'new world' where everything needs to be made of carbon fibre I could see this costing near as much as a Veyron...I'd own one, but if I had to choose I know what I'd be buying....
didn't age well...looks like a wierd kit car
@vr6juan: weird
Don't forget 5 valves/cylinder (in case 4 turbos and AWD don't do it for you).
The EB110 is the Tupac of Supercars. It's been out of production for 13 years and it's still making headlines and getting people all hot and bothered. Love it or hate it, this isn't some generic doorstop, build-it-yourself, next-best-thing-to-a-Countach exotic. It walks with an entirely different swagger, and you have to respect that.
I used to day dream about being filthy rich to the point where i would have a butler named alfred and a Bugatti EB110. I would tell alfred to get the Bug, but not the vw, the 110.
i was going driving.
When I ordered my EB110 they refused to give it to me unpainted, saying it was "cheap" looking; however, they had no problem equipping it with 15" Cragars and faux sidepipes (exhaust exits into the cabin).
I was only mildly annoyed about the finish at the time, but as I matured I became indignant at the snub, thus invested deeply in Vector.
@sparksinner: AH yes I remember it, my first, it was this baby that done for me
back in middle school we dreamed if this had wings it would fly
It looks like a bad fiero body kit.
The McClaren F1 ended up being the mistress that ruined my marriage with the EB110. Though, I was happy to have it happen as I still love the McClaren over the EB110 till this day. The F1 holds position number uno on my Super Car list.
Ha ha, a lot of us (myself included) came of age with this car. Sure, there were Ferraris and Lambos, but when this car hit, I had never asked "What's BEYOND a Ferrari?" This was the first car to answer that question.
And LOOK at the spec! 3.5l V-12! 4 Turbos, AWD, Carbon Fibre! This, for me, is THE car.
If I had to choose between this and an F40 for the only spot in my garage, I would, like Solomon, cleave them each in half down the middle and glue half of each of to the other. Of course I would cry at every glance at my FEB40110, but I just couldn't live without both.
First-ever production car with carbon fiber chassis. That is not suck.
Less Jalopnik is its fire-sale successor, the truly ugly RWD B.Engineering Edonis. That thing makes a Gumpert Apollo look lovely.
ugly as all hell... but somehow made tasteful by the many yards of carbon fiber.
I remember when one of these raced in the Daytona 24 hours. What precious little screen time it had was awesome. I remember it had the power to pass pretty much all the WSC cars at the time, but was so much heavier it had to get on the brakes wayyyy early, so it never really could make up for it. I have video of that somewhere, now all I need is a VCR to dub it into my computer...hmm.
I feel in love with this as a kid. My lust for it has not changed.
Why is it not in the JFG???????????
EB110 FTW. Yes it looks it age. So what. People will be saying the same thing about the Veyron in less than 5 years.
The R8 may become the more memorable of the group's (VW) vehicles anyway....Who knows what Dr. Porsche is going to do with Bugatti anyway...
Yup EB110 was defo a car i lusted for when I was younger.
Amazing car for its time. I still love the way it looks. i just cant imagine what it cost to run the beast though.
Doesn't carbon fiber deteriorate over time, especially when exposed to sunlight? I heard from my friend (the son of the Evil Genius himself) a story in which a man was driving a vintage Ferrari racer and while in a turn, his car split right in half. I don't know if the guy was in the front half or the back half, but I always worry about that kind of thing when i see these carbon specialties.
Looks kind of like a 300zx, or ZX Twin Turbo.
@RoninianHoon: Because that damned 928 stole its parking spot.
So was this also made by vw? I knew they bought the brand awhile back, but didn't ever know if this came out of their shop or not?!?
this is the best of the mad 90's super cars because it's (comparatively) restrained, it looks almost like a Nissan, but you can outdrag any modded 300Z.
