Thor is of course the Norse god of thunder, thunder comes from lightning and lightning is made of electricity, thus naming an all-electric se7en ThoRR is appropriate. The chassis we all know and love is largely unmolested, but the powertrain is pure electrons with a Siemens 3-phase electric motor sporting a redline of 10,000 RPM, a peak horsepower of 272, and max torque of 331 lb.ft. Interestingly, there is no transmission to get in the way so this gets even closer to go-kart like driving.
With lithium polymer batteries holding enough juice for 124 miles, it's a little on the chunky side for a se7en, tipping the scales at 1,664 lbs. We're betting with all that torque available at zero RPM it will be a hoot on the track — if you can find a class for it. No word on the acceleration figures yet, and also no explaination as to why it seems to prefer hanging out in remote fields of grass. [Carscoop]

Crop. Donuts.
The dragon, lighting a cigarette, quips "you think you're thor, thweetie"...

This vehicle is an aspiring Gawker artist...
Take that, Tesla!
That shot has some T-Shirts in the background--make sense because it is electric.

Silly Jalops: As a zero-emission vehicle, you could say the car is "green," because it doesn't seem to hurt the environment. They therefore show it in fields that are also green. Get it?
I know it's tough to wrap your head around: I don't think anyone has used that juxtaposition before. Then again, you guys did write that electrically witty "Shocking" headline (see what I did there?) That made me "LOL" ("laugh out loud" - get it?).
To anyone who is anti-electric car:
Any powertrain that needs that many caution stickers can't be all bad.
Here we've spotted the elusive Thorr, silently stalking his prey through the tall grass. We must be quiet ourselves, lest we become the aforementioned prey.
Los Angeles SCCA autocross region has an electric car class.
It will be a monster coming off the line and out of a turn, that's for sure. However, speed will taper off quickly. Nonetheless, this thing will be an absolute riot to drive around a track.
@Bumblebee: OhmMGWattTFBBQ!
I'd be careful about purchasing one of these things, if I were you. It seems they may have gone the Unique Performance route. Witness:
the radiator* that looks like it's been wrapped around a tree, and the roll bar that looks like it's already been rolled (God help the passenger).
/sarcasm
* anyone know why an electric car needs a radiator?
Elektric Cars!! No way. Impossiable.
It looks good... but what is its "Connectedness" score?
With the electric motor turning out that kind of power, liquid cooling may be needed. Even though electric motors are still very efficient, you're still looking at ~20% of those ~200,000 peak watts going straight into heat.
I tcould also be to cool the control circuits. Likely both the motor and the control circuits.
I see a lot of Potential in this car. What a great way to keep an old design Current!
I want one. I'd even get rid of my turbo K-car convertible to make room for it.
"it seems to prefer hanging out in remote fields of grass."
@FreeMan: That's not a rad, it's a giant bug zapper! The car hangs out in fields zapping flies and such, then the giant bug zapper converts their charred remains into electricity charging the batteries! Pretty amazing stuff, really.
I'm going to need a cool project car in a few years. Maybe by then they'll have the weight down a bit.
Does it have regenerative braking, I wonder. Not that you would need it since we're not trying to out-Prius or anything here.. But it would help with the range if it did.
I think this thing is cool, except for the ugly black nose.
Spinning electron
You provide me with power
my pants go camping
Definitely needs arcing tesla coils in place of a windscreen. That will keep the moths out of your teeth.
@FreeMan: Some high-performance computers have a radiator. It's an efficient way of transferring and eliminating heat, no matter what the source. (Or should that be no matter watt the source?)
@Sloop_John_B: I highly doubt speed will taper off with this. As the Tesla's proven, it's a solid pull all the way to top speed.
@mechimike: Thanks, and dculberson thanks.
OK, POИTIFF POLAЯ, I like your reasoning here, though I think markov may be on to something here when it comes to debugging.
My hope is that it is powerful enough to short out cell phone transmissions.
@FreeMan: Sorry man, this damn Connectedness Index brought to me by Acura TSX is making me light headed. And now I'm getting this weird rash on my left buttock shaped like Ray Wert's head!
@POИTIFF POLAЯ: yea I noticed this addition... I cry bullshit as it seems my friends and followers list has shrunken??? wacky... and my number blows excited donkeys, that are well endowed even for a donkey.
@Starlton Heston: Check out the top ten freakshows connected over on the left margin, we're all blowing excited donkeys, my friend.
Big. Mandingo. Donkeys.
@☼ БЯд╒╒ ®:
HOTD (haiku of the day) award.
@POИTIFF POLAЯ: Big Mandingo Donkeys is pretty much the scariest thing ever typed into the jalopnik comment box... well done.
God, what a weird site.
@☼ БЯд╒╒ ®: also the most poignant
The siemens AC motor they're using needs a radiator for forced water cooling, which is why it has one there. This looks like it'll be pretty quick accelerating, but there's no way its going to go 124 miles if you actually, you know, accelerate quickly.
To the people asking about regenerative braking, it probably does have regenerative braking, because that motor/controller supports it with no extra work, but it would probably cause the batteries to explode if it was used to any meaningful extent
So If I'm drive that at 84 mph and get hit by lighting, what then Doc?
@RoninianHoon: If my calculations are correct, at 88mph, you're going to see some serious shit. You'll just be very toasty at 84.
ahhh jalopnik... let me count the ways i love you..
(hold on a sec... have to take off my socks & shoes...... wow.. i hope 20 will be enough...............)
@FreeMan: Looks like a radiator from a motorcycle, actually - they tend to be curved. Wonder which model they borrowed it from.
