When out and about this weekend, we stumbled across the new hotness from the Dearborn gang: the 2009 Lincoln MKS. Too bad it's already old and busted. Somebody made a boo-boo on the lower intake of the pretty-in-pearl M-plated car and for some reason attached a tow bar in the wound. In any case, this is the first one we've seen running around full-monty on the streets of Detroit so we'll assume this is one of those mules that get whipped right before production ramp-up starts.

In my experience, all FordMoCo products should have the tow bar available as an option.
I enjoy the front, but the rear, not so much. It has that whole "Imma eat you!" look as it barrels down the highway with its TTV6 beastliness.
Go Lincoln!
It's a good thing they missed the unmasked 2010 MKZ or "Lucy would have some 'splaning to do!"
looks pretty good all around, cept those tail lights. They need color.
They replaced the LS for this?!
That rear end is horrendous.
Some people thought the MKS would be the spark that keeps Lincoln alive.
More and more though, it looks like the MKS is a power surge...except Lincoln is on life support. Flash then flatline.
Bring in the lawyer and the morphine...let's get this over with.
@bzr: They replaced the LS with the MKZ...i know...
This car is supposedly going to take the retail sales of the Town Car.
It's sad that Lincoln's badge-engineered trucks are better than their badge-engineered cars. My neighbor owns a Mark whatever pickup and the interior in that thing is spectacular.
my bad!
Upon seeing this in person at the Philly car show, I was extremely unimpressed by its presence. It's certainly an inoffensive, cleanly-designed car, but not exciting in the least. Even the XF at least has a cool transmission dial...
I guess with all that teckie stuff inside they must be calibrating the profit expected from front bumpers.
This looks more like a suv than a lux-bucks ride.
Even busted up, I love it. It's nice to finally see some real-world, non-auto show pics of this car.
Those tailights look like a miniature Indian restaurant.
Looks like every other new car I've ever seen near 696. The condition, not the style. Such as it is.
This is a new car? Compare this shot of my Altima:

With the ass shot of the Lincoln
Hey, lets give good ol FMC a chance, maybe they were testing a crappy Adaptive Cruise Control system from Delphi or something...whoops!
it could do with some non-"euro" style rear lights, but the real question is why the car has, what looks to be, either police or taxi gear in it?
if they replaced the crown vic w/ this maybe the fare would be worth it for a taxi....for a copcar...I think it's got nothing on the corbin concept policecar.
New Lincoln Spotted: Octogenarians Cheer Pedestrian-Eating Grille Design.
This car was busted from the second it left the design studio. I agree completely with UDMan about the Altima rear end and although the new DRG (grill) is a step in the right direction, it's just too plain to be a Lincoln.
I say boo, hiss, give us a real damn Lincoln, Mr. Mulally.
God I miss the good old days when you could tell what kind of car it was from 100 yards away
Excellent Men in Black reference.

pretty much the last car that Lincoln made that I wanted to own..remember that commercial where the car was hauling ass towards the goalpost and its speed sensitive suspension lowered the car to pass safely under???
Dear Ford
Please stop with the clear tail lights.
Thanks
Mike
Id really like to like this car but I just cant. It looks like an uglier version of the Taurus/500/Sable/Montego. Who do they think will be fooled? They should have never killed the Marauder.
@IamZardoz: Not only was the Marauder a Mercury, not a Lincoln, it was slower than a contemporary Honda Accord V6.
I fully expect mandibles to be the next big styling fad.
it appears the engine has eaten it's way out and escaped.
Lexus must be impressed that Lincoln is copying everything they make. Can't waite for the LS clone.
I have an MKS on order and view it as the next coming of the Continental (which is what I may call it when I get it). People should hold their comments until driven or ridden in the car, or at least sat in it. Very, very comfortable and quiet. My one regret is that the direct-injected turbocharged engine won't be available from the start.
I agree about the tail lights not looking so good. They should be solid red with the exception of a portion at the bottom, preferably a rectangular shape, for the backup lights. Otherwise I do love the "I'm gonna eat the bumper off your car if I don't get to pass you" look of the front of the car.
This is a good looking car, and as for the clear/euro taillights....this is the first that I have seen of them so I dont think that they will be standard, and to most of you...I think that even if Honda or Toyota came out with what they thought to be a specatcular automobile you would sitll find a way to complain and hate it. At least it is a step in the right direction!
