And now, for todays moment of Zen...
...The driver drove 32 miles at 50 mph like that. (Thanks, Brian)

Those guys from "pimp my ride" are getting lazy.
Will Castro and the boys at Unique are going for a new record.
Luckily He had that rear spoiler! *cough Sarcasm cough*
At least it doesn't said "Geek Squad" on the side.
Imagine the downforce that would achieve at 70mph. I'm sure my GTI could fit an even bigger TV. Would anyone like to contribute one to test it out? Plasma please.
now what if it was a Beetlamino?
I think a set of nuts would look better.
Carried in imminent-road-hazard position and upside down. Nice.
Should have bought the 'vert
boy, if that TV would have fallen out!
When I was a Domain Admin/Onsite IT Support for a small retail chain, i would see this crap all the time. People would show up to the blowout sale days, black friday and day after thanksgiving, and be surprised that the 42'' or 50" wouldn't fit in the back of their two-seater. That person is lucky that it is an LCD and they have a decent chance of it still working. People would buy a plasma and toss it flat in the back of their van or truck. The would come back to the store later that day and complain that it was broken. I was glad that I had no part in sales, it was good to be a wallflower and just laugh at the stupidity.
@smalleyxb122:
Post COTD, COTD!
These are the guys who go back to Costco the next day and claim it was pooched right out of the box and they need a replacement, like now.
Chain link license plate frame tells the whole story.
@jarque: The Mk5 GTI has the fold down rear seats and will easily swallow that load.
I know, because I've moved a similar screen for my brother in my GTI with everything closed up and my old surround speakers/amp/dvd player in there to boot :D
Looks like someone needs a giant station wagon.
For even more haphazard loading, stop by an Ikea.
Even though the Swedes managed to flat-pack a sofa to make it easier to transport, and you managed to wedge it under the trunk opening, it doesn't make up for that fact that 2/3rds of it is still hanging out over the back bumper!
@cmdrfire: Your GTI sounds like a real slut.
@cmdrfire: High Five for MkV GTIs! I'd still like to try it myself though... any donors?
Pez are bigger than I remember.
T'would have been funnier if it made the car tip over.
@DannyBN: I once jammed a high capacity dryer into the back end of my mom's PT Cruiser... are you getting turned on yet?
You just know they rolled it end over end to get it into the back...
@jarque: Pervert
Did someone request a Beetlamino?

I wish I still had a car if this is all it takes to get on Jalopnik for moment of Zen. The 97 Grand Am swallowed almost everything I threw at it- and the back seats don't fold down (though i thought about changing that at one point). 2x4x10s, PVC piping, furniture, barbecue grills (not disassembled)... I could go on. The trunk was basically just a junk/tool depot until it started leaking so bad that everything rusted (a fun story is in there somewhere). I considered ripping out the trunk carpet, spraying it with bedliner, and pulling the trunklid off (GrandAmino?), but the owners (parents) wouldn't sign off on it. It's being sold since I moved an nobody drives it.
The TV is worth more than the car...Waaay more. And less gay, too.
@BMRFILE: Are you sure. That TV is what like $2500. I am not sure about the age of the Beetle, but I would wager it is worth a significant amount more than that.
Though not quite as impressive as the GTI stories, I took home a 32" LCD in the back of my tC, all closed up, of course.
Poor trunk space really Bugs me.
@AandW:
I think I'll take that back then, this IS hopeless
A wing on a bettle... enough said.
@BMRFILE: "...And less gay, too."
Yeah, us gay guys are always trying to shove oversized packages into our back ends... ;-)
...Or swallow oversize loads...
This End Up.
Or not.
Say what you will, it worked. - Keep it simple stupid.
Delivery charges? Fuck that! I HAVE A NEW BEETLE! Watch for next weeks
pics of me bringing my new King Size Mattress and Box Spring home!
I got a fireplace, mantle, subwoofer and 7 surround-sound speakers... oh, and a new kitten in a cat-carrier... home together in the Corrado. It's all a matter of knowing how to pack. Still found room for the girlfriend in there too.
I THINK I got the girlfriend home too...
Haven't noticed, since I got the sub and surround speakers...
Im thinking either
1. Bettlechero.
2. Bettle con Tralier
3. Bettle-Estate. O, wait, they already have thoes.
God damit. I need to learn 2 spel. Beetle.
The standards for moment of Zen just went below the low, low standards for fantasy garage and the REALLY FUCKING LOW standards for Gawker art.
And moment of Zen was doing so well.....
He's going to build that in his dashboard?
Y'know, that TV would fit in the back of an L-body Duster...
@dulcamara:
This has been my favorite moment of Zen.
The ex-gf has a beetle - 14 foot from bumper to bumper. She carries her 17 foot kayak on the roof regularly. It's totally safe, good roof rack, but looks insane with the kayak hanging over both front & rear.
The Beetle also looks pretty butch w/ roof rack installed.
We've brought home Christmas trees and (once) 24 computers.
Yeah, 24. Regular desktops. Had to fold the front seat down, though.
Can't tell if that one's a turbo, but I sure hope so.
@FuzzyPlushroom: "...Yeah, 24. Regular desktops. Had to fold the front seat down, though....
So tell us the truth, did that New Beetle say "Geek Squad" on the side? If not, I seriously think it SHOULD have... Evidence speaks for itself...!
OM NOM NOM NOM
(/meme)
32 miles at 50 mph?
More like 32" wide, 52" diagonally.
I know too much about the tele.
He could've just taken it out of the box and laid it flat on the dashboard...
@dulcamara: Yeah, obviously no one is enjoying this. You may want to hook up with that dude who made the gay joke a few comments up and go hate somewhere.
@FuzzyPlushroom: I think - or at least I hope - the Turbo had cooler wheels.
I'm just saying, if this is a moment of zen, frosh week at any dorm at any college must be nirvana^2 (I can't speak for anyone else, but I loaded all my stuff into an Intrepid).
having one of these things as a beater for driving/living on campus, if you know what your doing they do have a lot of space in them, i once got a whole 3 person couch in mine, it was a 2 section couch but it is possible, so it having 9 people in them, works well considering my '93 mr2 can hold a loaf of bread at most in the trunk and only one passenger assuming they can get past the door bar on the cage...

@SundaySunday: Funny thing, I had a friend who loved his L body Duster for his business because it would swallow absolutely anything he could lift into it by himself. He said he'd get worn out lifting before he could fill it.
At least they secured it well enough with that string. That item wont be going anywhere.
This can't touch any end-of-month moving day in which '88 Hyundai Excels with king-sized mattresses bungeed to the roof, and held with usually only the driver's left hand, are found bobbing about town.
Zen my ass.
@dulcamara: I don't know who you are, or what you're about, but you clearly know where your towel's at.
@Maymar: I once moved a sofa in a Geo Tracker convertible. This is amateur hour at best.
@rexplex: you sent her down the river?
I can't remember why, but I had to move a full sized solid oak desk on the roof of a Pontiac Sunbird - so I did it night, under cover of darkness :]
@charles_barrett: Sorry, a Beetle is chick car. It's so gay even gay guys wouldn't go near it.
Looks perfectly safe to me! Jeez, I have carried FAR worse!
Beetle eats TV dinner
