One of the posters at Club Lexus managed to get their hands on a scan from some unknown German magazine with a shot of what is purported to be a Lexus IS convertible in light camouflage. The claimed horsepower numbers range from 177 to 423 horsepower, which covers the IS from the entry-level diesel (in Europe) to the Lexus IS-F. larger version of what could be a hardtop convertible Lexus IS below the jump.

It makes sense, given that there's an Audi A4, BWM 3-series and Mercedes C-Class convertible. Why not an IS?

Or an SLK disguised as an Alfa Romeo Brera. Or maybe even a real Brera...
Pray to god it's not as fugly as the SC430.

I am going to second graverobbers comment
rich people seem to think Lexus sportcars are so much better 'cause it's a Toyota.
@graverobber: A man after my own heart (not literally, of course)
That is one of the ugliest cars on the road today. Build quality aside, I rank it right there with Aztek. But I've rarely heard anyone else criticize it's appearance before.
Saw two Lexus IS-Fs on Saturday... pretty good looking in person:
@ØmÆgä ßrÅff: Those quad pipes don't connect to anything is my robble on the IS-F.
bananaDoc say:
I can has 423HP ragtop pleaz?\\KaiThanxBye
@Number_Six: I did not know that... that is indeed disappointing.
Though 418hp would cure that fairly quick.
@Number_Six:
Yeah, it's a shame. The new LS also has cool pipes too but they're also not connected to the exhaust. Lame.
@Number_Six: Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think that was only true of preproduction models. I remember reading a test somewhere (here?) in which a Lexus rep said they'd all be connected in the final production model.
Does it really matter if the those are the real pipes or if the real pipes tuck nicely behind what is shown? Performance is no different. As a driver, you won't see it. And as an owner, I'd imagine any exhaust and rear bumper issues are much less expensive to repair.
Complicated rear pipe setups like that are just a PITA waiting to happen. Imagine trying to get those pipes to meticulously line up afterwhile or the cost to replace them if you back into a curb. Anyway, the IS-F got amazing reviews here on Jalopnik so I'm sure it will be a great car despite having no soul.
Jonny's original review:
From Jonny:
Just to clarify the "fake" exhaust tips.
If you crawl under the car, you see four exhaust pipes. The oval rings at the back are what Lexus is calling "Sound Resonators." Lexus swears that they are only there to improve the engine note.
Yes, you can place your hand between the real pips and the "resonators."
What do I think? Wait until Part 3....

Just to clarify, the exhaust tips are real. Edmunds drove a preproduction one. Autospies drove a later model and the exhaust tips are fully functional and connected:

[www.autospies.com] the exhausts are real on the actual production models.
@bananaDoc: Yes, they are all fully functional...One is for the oil slick, 2 are for the smoke screen and the other gives off the charming aroma of fresh baked cookies!
Mmmmmmmmmmmmm. . . cookies..........
to be honest-- i couldn't care less if 2 emitted bubbles. When i read the leaverman's review on the IS f, i asked after a topless model.
I's gettin' one...
:-]>
it's a lexus or toyota since it thas the typical belgian license plates....!!! there's no doubt...!!!
To be honest, I don't really care if they're connected or not; I still think I'd be damn happy with the car.
@Number_Six: The Quad pipes are factory "Speed Holes"!
Lexus IS-F Coupe, please!
