What’s up party people! The drop-top version of the superhot Lamborghini Aventador has finally landed, and it’s ready to blow doors off and skirts up as it comes screaming out of the dance club valet line and straight into a tree at the hands of some drunken oligarch!
As you may or may not remember, any Lamborghini with “Superveloce” in its name is even faster than its regular-ass counterpart. In the case of this 6.5 liter V12 Aventador, we’re talking about a 50 horsepower bump to 750 at 8,400 RPM and 509 lb-ft of torque at a (dry) weight of just 3,472 pounds. That would be 110 pounds shy of the standard Aventador convertible.
Lamborghini’s very proud of the power-to-weight ratio they’ve achieved too, but I won’t be reporting it since only advertising a car’s dry weight is cheating. I mean the thing’s not going anywhere without any gas in it, right?
The Superveloce Roadster also has a power rear window you can drop down to let that sweet, sweet engine sound pour into the cockpit. What Lamborghini describes as “invigorating tones and harmonics” and I’m sure is truly spectacular.
When you do want a (slightly) quieter experience, you can fit the two-piece carbon fiber hardtop which weighs in at just 13.2 pounds.
Zero to 62 MPH is claimed at 2.9 seconds, top speed is “greater than” 217 MPH. A seven-speed sequential transmission puts power to the wheels through a Haldex Generation IV 4WD system.
Sales are scheduled to start in early 2016, with an MSRP just a hair over $530,000. So we should start seeing these things misbehaving all over Ibiza and Dubai a little after that!
