Michigan's diminutive Attorney General Mike Cox has launched a probe into the Ford Family Foundation, alleging governance issues, potential conflicts of interest and a record of giving to Michigan equivalent to the Michigan AG's stature. Cox, pictured to the left at actual size, claims the Foundation has a vested interest in supporting the Detroit community that spawned it. It seems the Michigan-incorporated foundation last held a member of the Ford family on its board in 1976, and its charitable giving to the state has dropped since the dot-org moved its headquarters to New York in the 1970's. Cox likely hopes his subpoena will allow him to dive deep into the interior of the foundation's musty financial statements.
