If everything is seeming a bit daunting and serious to you right now, then I have a solution. Take a moment and watch a bunch of British loons racing crapcans towing larger, emptier crapcans. It's Banger Caravan racing, which in real English would be called shitbox camper racing or something.
A bunch of beater cars dragging gutted out trailers all over a racetrack means insane handling issues and very fun, silent-movie slapstick style wrecks and collapsing trailers. As long as you cross the finish dragging something you're okay, so I think a lot of these are specifically designed to "shed weight."
