The Porsche 911 Turbo S has ten more horsepower and better traction than the Jaguar F-Type R Coupe thanks to its all wheel drive system. It also costs twice as much while not giving you any noise. Deal, or no deal?
The folks at Goodwood got their hands on a Jaguar F-Type R Coupe and a Porsche 911 Turbo S to see what's what. Hooning around the estate is a good way to start such an investigation, and when you have your own Stig in the name of Anthony Reid, every bit of the cars' performance can be laid down onto that historic tarmac.
The Porsche is obviously the better car of the two, we know that. It's also faster thanks to all that grip. Having said that, it's hardly twice as good, and since the F-Type R starts at $99,000 as opposed to the Turbo S' insane $182,700 base price, it's difficult to justify choosing the 'more special' Porsche over the brutish but highly enjoyable Jag.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: perfect products are not always what we want the most.
Would you dare to go for the Jaguar or rather play it safe and blow the bank on the Porsche?
