Stefan Bradl has to get ready for the Corkscrew at the upcoming MotoGP at Laguna Seca somehow, so he took his Honda and went down San Francisco's legendary Lombard Street. Here's his POV.
The German rider is in his first year in 1,000cc bikes, having been bumped up after winning the 2011 Moto2 championship. This year will also be his first big race at Laguna Seca, so the trip to the ultra-twisty Lombard Street makes sense. The tourist trap road has no less than eight hairpins, though none are quite the same high-G rollercoaster that is the Corkscrew.
After the PR-gasm of the Lombard ride, Bradl went over to Stanford with his team owner Lucio Cecchinello for a conference on how racers understand and handle risk. You can watch the whole lecture, titled "Embracing Risk in the Pursuit of Victory," here.
Now he just has to see if Red Bull can get him some space to go jump drifting through the rest of town.
