Turbocharging! All the cool kids are doing it, even Ferrari. (This is part of some kind of trend, I think.) According to numerous reports, the Ferrari 458 Italia is next horse from Maranello to get turbocharged power.
CAR Magazine and other sources indicate that the 458 will receive the 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 that powers the Ferrari California T as part of a refresh coming possibly in 2015. In that car, the motor puts out 560 horsepower, which is roughly the same amount as the 458's current naturally-aspirated 4.5-liter V8.
One would assume that this refreshed turbo 458 will come with a power bump, and CAR says it could be in the neighborhood of 670 horsepower. As is in line with Ferrari's official plans and the new California, we can expect this new model to be called the 458 M or 458 T.
It looks like Ferrari is going to Turbo Town. This makes me wonder how long it will take before they go to Hybrid Town like their rivals in England.
