The new quizzically-named Skoda Kodiaq debuted today along with a declaration that it is based on the modular MQB platform. That means this three-row, seven-seat SUV shares its bones with the VW Golf. It’s also Skoda’s first SUV.

If you’re wondering exactly how big the Skoda Kodiaq is, it’s 185" long, 75" wide, 66" tall and it has a 117" wheelbase. The whole thing is just about the same size as a VW Touareg, which sits on a dedicated SUV platform. Here it is next to a human and a dog for another comparison.

It’s cool to see the modularity of the MQB platform getting exercised like this!
