Renaultsport built the Megane 275 Trophy to become the king of the Nürburgring again after Seat took its crown. The result is a family car with a titanium exhaust and a top speed of 158 mph. Bonkers!
The fact about these front-wheel drive Nürburgring records is that they are both amazing and slightly pointless at the same time. Amazing because any family car that can go around that circuit under 8 minutes is an engineering masterpiece.
Pointless because you can't exactly get the same car at the dealership, no matter what they say in the brochure. Still, you should be fine with a bit of cheating in this case since what you end up with will have air-conditioning, seats that won't break your back and performance that can still outrun most cars out there in exchange.
You will feel every bump on your way to the supermarket thought...
I could live with it, that's for sure.
