This is The Morning Shift, our one-stop daily roundup of all the auto news that's actually important — all in one place at 9:00 AM. Or, you could spend all day waiting for other sites to parse it out to you one story at a time. Isn't your time more important?
Last month we did things a little differently by putting the gears inside the comments below to make it easier for you to comment on individual gears. I think there were some benefits to it, but let's try it out the other way.
I still encourage you to make your own gears in the comments that we can star to the top.
1st Gear: 2014 Cadillac CTS: This Is It
Goodbye Art and Science, hello Bronx High School of Science. It's the 2014 Cadillac CTS, now fully leaked and in all its new-luxury glory ahead of a formal unveiling at the New York Auto Show this week. Read…
2nd Gear: Range Rover Sport Takes To The Streets
Land Rover is debuting the Range Rover Sport today by driving it across Manhattan, which will be one place where you'll see a ton of them.
The official debut of the new RRS is tonight at 7:30 EST, but you've already seen it thanks to a window tinter run amok.
3rd Gear: Infiniti Shakes Everything Up
Johan de Nysschen, head of the Infiniti Q ship, has made some big changes in his upper management to help make the Infiniti brand a true global player.
de Nysschen raided competitors and former employer Audi in order to get the mix he wanted to transform the brand. Two notables are that American and Audi man Ian Bolin will be Chief Transformation Officer and Francois Goupil de Bouille is the new VP of Global Operation, That means that a majority of the new execs aren't Japanese, a huge change for the automaker.
4th Gear: Chrysler Is Big In Cali
For the second year in a row, Chrysler has been declared the fastest growing automaker in California. Sales grew by 50 percent in Cali last year, while the industry itself only grew by about 26 percent.
Each brand under the Chrysler umbrella grew by at least 38 percent. And this is a company that offers precisely 0 hybrids across its range. Interesting...
5th Gear: 2014 Dodge Durango: This Is A Small Portion Of It
I honestly forgot that the Durango was still a thing. Apparently it is, and it looks like it has new headlights. Oh, and new taillights. Exciting!
6th Gear: Crossovers For Everyone
YOU GET A CROSSOVER AND YOU GET A CROSSOVER AND YOU GET A CROSSOVER! New York is going to be full of them this week. Highlanders, Cherokees, QX60s, Pathfinders, MDXs, and more make up a bunch of the debuts at the NY show this week.
People love taking their families places, apparently.
Reverse: Jaguar And Land Rover Go Indian
It was this day five years ago that Ford sold Jag and Land Rover to Tata. Now, we have more gorgeous Jaguars and Land Rovers and Ford is building some beautiful cars on their own.
A nice clean divorce, that's nice.
Neutral: NYIAS
Here's a place for you to own the floor. We're asking each day what you think about an issue that comes up in TMS.
On the eve of the NY Auto Show, we want to know what you're looking forward to most. Range Rover Sport? CTS? Subaru's "Performance Concept?" Let us know below.
