A preview of things to come, Car and Track heads to Ford's test track to check out the new for 1969 Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet in this vintage road test. Although the car wasn't completely ready yet, the 428 cubic inches of TNT were in place under the hood. It didn't take long for host Bud Lindemann to determine the '69 Torino 428 Cobra Jet was one wild super car.

It is pretty cool seeing the over the top pre-production Cobra Jet fender decals in this vintage footage. We think Ford probably made the right choice toning them down a little bit when they went into production form. Luckily Ford had no intention of toning down the monster 428 under the hood. The 335 "advertised" horsepower and 445 ft/lbs of Torque were certainly enough to "rattle your back teeth whenever you let the clutch fly".

This preview of the Ford Torino 428 Cobra Jet is a lot shorter than most of the Car and Track reviews we've shown you, but it only takes a little over 2 minutes to be reminded of the 428 Cobra Jet equipped 1969 Ford Torino's prominent position in our fantasy garage.
