When a C7 has to compete against everything Europe can throw at it from the fastest Renault hatchback to the crazy Ariel Atom 3.5R, it's a real shame the 2015 Z06 is not out yet.

I'm sure it's a lot of fun to throw an Alfa Romeo 4C, a BMW M3 and i8, a Renault Megane or a rebadged Australian V8 super saloon around the track for two days, but when it comes to Britain's best driver's car, much higher cornering speeds and a beautifully balanced chassis will determine your winner.

Jaguar's supercharged F-Type R Coupe falls straight out because it's bit of a handful on the limit, while the C7 Corvette finishes the competition getting the thumbs up from all the testers.

So, it comes down to Autocar's champion from last year, the 911 GT3, the best Atom yet, the McLaren 650S and the Ferrari 458 Speciale, a car that seems to be the most rewarding V8 from Maranello to date.

Watching an Atom overtake a very fast Ferrari is always entertaining, but it's bit of a surprise that a mid-engined McLaren still couldn't beat a six-cylinder Porsche. Let's hope at least it wins as a daily driver.
