Controversial Car Opinions, Worst Car Gifts And The Dumbest Stuff Said About Cars In this Week's QOTD Roundup
A collection of our best posts of the week in QOTD
Last week, we asked readers what’s the worst gas mileage they’ve ever seen. From towing with SUVs both old and new, to sport compacts off-road toys, all of these are a stark reminder of just how bad vehicles can be for the environment and our wallets. These were the thirstiest of our reader’s responses. - Lawrence Hodge Read More
Last week we asked the audience the dumbest thing they’ve ever heard someone say about cars. Cars are complex machines that many of us have to interact with on a daily basis, so it’s unsurprising that there’s a lot of misunderstanding and straight up misinformation about them. Though often the dumbest things we hear folks say about cars come from the mouths of folks who don’t know much about cars, sometimes those of us who know more than the average bear still spout off with some egregiously incorrect statements from time to time. - Logan Carter Read More
Everyone carries an opinion or two that is somewhat controversial. Maybe you keep it to yourself because you don’t want to cause a stir, or maybe you shout it from the mountain tops to trigger the libs or whatever. Today, and today only, we are all here to listen and not judge. You can sound off in the comments section below with your most unhinged, deranged, and unpopular automotive opinions. - Bradley Brownell Read More
There are a lot of universally loved cars out there, cars like the Ferrari F40 and the E-Type Jaguar have won thousands of adoring fans around the world. Sadly, we won’t all get to drive automotive icons like these in our lives, but I wondered if there are any cars that we really should try and get behind the wheel of at least once during our short time on this Earth? - Owen Bellwood Read More
Earlier this week we asked for your worst stories involving car gifting. For a lot of enthusiasts, it can be an exciting prospect to either make use of vehicles after their previous owners no longer use them or to share a passion with younger drivers. However, gifting doesn’t always work out for the best. Recipients may be ungrateful for the car or the gift might not have the best intentions. Without further ado, here are your worst car gifting stories: - Ryan Erik King Read More
At one point in our lives or another, we’ve made sweetheart deals for cars with friends or family. An adult gifting an old car to a teenager fresh out of their driving test. Maybe, you sold an unwanted car taking up space in your garage to a friend at less than the market price. While there are typically good intentions at the start, someone can easily change their mind. - Ryan Erik King Read More
If there is one thing I have learned writing for Jalopnik for seven years, it is that the commenters here have a whole lot of deeply seated opinions, and you’re more than willing to defend them. Earlier this week we asked you all to provide us with your most controversial automotive opinion, and boy howdy did y’all deliver. - Bradley Brownell Read More
Recently, I told you fine folks about a wildly good lease deal being offered on Fiat 500es at a dealership in Colorado. At full price, the 500e is not that compelling of a car. It’s slow, has poor range and is far too expensive, but with this lease deal, it’s pretty much free for over two years. The only thing you’d have to pay is a few grand in taxes. In this day and age that’s as close to free as you can get. A deal like that makes the 500e a super compelling vehicle to own, and it got me thinking about today’s question. - Andy Kalmowitz Read More
