Did you know that McLaren recommends replacing the wheel bolts on your 650S every two years? A lithium 12V battery for the same car costs around $2,500, the headlights apparently fall out, the carbon fiber chips and cracks, and some of the paint colors are impossible to match correctly. It seems like there are a bunch of hidden costs to owning and operating a well-used and ultra-depreciated supercar. Is it worth it? Some people seem to think so. - Bradley Brownell Read More

Ferrari’s old entry-level California sports car is often unfairly derided for being a bit ungainly and not particularly sporty. One intrepid individual started an individual labor of love to blend a 2010 California’s modern usability with the classic good looks of a 1963 250 GTE. Unfortunately after what appears to be several years of work the project has been abandoned for the next sucker, uh, I mean, intrepid wrencher to finish up. Do you have the patience, skill, space, and desire to finish a weird Ferrari project car that will almost certainly look worse than a 250 GTE and drive worse than a California when its done, while running up bills that will likely exceed the value of either? Look no further. - Bradley Brownell Read More

Nice Price or No Dice: 2000 Bentley Arnage Red Label
Photo: Craigslist

Today’s Nice Price or No Dice Arnage T Red Label is the last Bentley model shared with Rolls Royce, as the two former flatmates were split between VW and BMW during the model’s run. It’s now an old-school example of British steel, and we’ll have to decide how much silver and gold it should take to own. - Rob Emslie Read More

Fiat 500e

The Fiat 500e is one of the least expensive electric cars you can buy new, but it’s also a hard sell in a country terrified of density. Then again, the closer something is to being free, the easier it is to sell, so we were particularly interested when we saw a $0 lease offer on a new 500e in Colorado. We tried calling to get more information, but apparently, Larry H. Miller Fiat’s phones don’t work if you live out of state. As one reader told the Autopian, though, that nearly free 500e deal was legitimate, and they know because they got one. - Collin Woodard Read More

Saabs are weird, funky cars that are most frequently revered by nerds, be they car nerds or college professors, and this particular Saab might be the nerdiest car you can buy right now. It was modified by Scandanavian Airport and Road Systems (SARSYS-ASFT) and sent to Salt Lake City International Airport for duty testing runway friction levels to ensure safe levels of grip for landing planes, and it’s freakin’ badass. It’s currently being auctioned on Bring A Trailer, with just one day left, so get your checkbooks out now. - Logan Carter Read More

Possibly the most iconic and recognizable race car in the history of four-wheeled anything, the Gulf-liveried Porsche 917, owes a lot of its star power to the kind of terrible 1971 Steve McQueen vehicle “Le Mans.” That very car, the one from the movie, the one that McQueen drove, is coming up for sale next month at Mecum’s Kissimmee auction, and it’s probably going to sell for a whole lot of money. This car, chassis number 917-022, has been part of Jerry Seinfeld’s private collection since 2001 and now he’s selling it so you can find out what’s the deal. - Bradley Brownell Read More

Like Vincent Van Gogh, today’s Nice Price or No Dice Volvo was less appreciated during its production run than in later years. Let’s see how appreciative we might be about this tidy example’s price. - Rob Emslie Read More

Whether you celebrate Happy Honda Days or Toyotaton, December is generally a good time to buy a car. Automakers and dealers want to end the year with strong sales on the books, which usually means some extra savings for shoppers. However, not every model is going to qualify for these seasonal sales. - Tom McParland Read More

Nice Price or No Dice 1976 Cadillac Seville

One of Looney Tunes’ most famous cartoons is 1950’s The Rabbit of Seville, a short that pits Bugs Bunny against Elmer Fudd to the tune of Rossini’s opera buffa. Today’s Nice Price or No Dice Cadillac Seville might not be quite as zany, but we’ll still have to decide if its price bugs us. - Rob Emslie Read More
