A small town Canadian Police Department made the ultimate threat to its holiday drivers: drive drunk and not only will we charge you, not only will we fine you, not only will we suspend your license, but also we will subject you to Nickelback.
Here is the original post in full, noting that “the Kensington Police Service will be out for the remainder of the year looking for those dumb enough to feel they can drink and drive. And when we catch you, and we will catch you, on top of a hefty fine, a criminal charge and a years driving suspension we will also provide you with a bonus gift of playing the office’s copy of Nickelback in the cruiser on the way to jail.”
“Let’s not ruin a perfectly good unopened copy of Nickelback,” the polite cops plea. The local town paper notes that the warning is tongue-in-cheek and it does not appear that anyone has had to pay the price.
In any case, the town has since removed the Facebook post, presumably as it is a cruel and unusual punishment.
