It looks like BMW is back in the billboard game because this billboard showing off the newest BMW M5 just showed up in Gothenburg, Sweden. Gothenburg is also known as Volvo’s headquarters.
This billboard is part of Need for Speed: Payback’s advertising campaign. The game is made in Sweden and allows players to drive the newest generation of BMW M5. This is a pretty good shot across the bow at Volvo. Here’s hoping they fire off a salvo of snarky ads towards BMW.
BMW is no stranger to advertising based sparring. A few years ago, BMW fought with Audi over a series of several billboards. I encourage billboard based arguing and I think it’s a clever move by whatever advertising agency is in charge.
