I haven’t noticed any difference in handling, I mostly did it for looks and in that department, I’m pretty happy. I’ll see if I can grab some wider photos of the car if I go for a drive today. As I said in the article, I’d definitely recommend the Rennline stuff though and for what it’s worth my car is lowered to M030 Read more

Yep it is. I’ve written and/or talked about it previously I think? But it’s a 1970 MBZ 280se with the mechanically injected inline 6. It’s going up for sale pretty soon, and I will likely write a goodbye post so keep your eyes peeled. Read more

It’s my understanding that it’s a consistency of torque thing that stems from safety concerns by German officials blah blah something like that. My car is unlikely to ever see autobahn speeds and I’m pretty religious about regularly checking torques and tire pressures so I’m not overly concerned. Read more

These are definitely not garbage amazon wheel spacers. They’re specifically milled from billet to the exact hub diameter of my car. Also, they’re a perfectly valid and safe thing to do provided you make sure there’s enough thread engagement by the wheel studs and nuts in my case or the wheel bolts. That said, I Read more

Big deep breaths, pal. I’ve been working around and driving Porsches of all stripes for a long time and while I’d agree that the cars are exceptional as a base platform, nothing is perfect and in the scope of things all the changes I’ve made have been quite small and mostly tailored to my driving style and use case. I rechecked the torque on these after a few days, then this past weekend when I had the wheels off after over 1k miles of driving. None had loosened.  Read more

I mean, I dunno, the SS logo is pretty easy to spot and if someone wants to advertise their beliefs like that, you owe it to them to at least give them a glance. IMO.

I wouldn’t call you a sympathizer, but maybe this isn’t a hill to die on. That said, thanks for reading the story. I genuinely appreciate you taking the Read more

I mean, I’ve actually driven both vehicles — hard — and there’s not as much in it as you might think. Yes the 3.5 is based on a Toyota motor but Lotus has gone through that pretty thoroughly and its a well established quantity by this point. The torque offered by the Lotus can’t be discounted either.

The 4.0 in the Cayman isn’t a “way better engine,” (not that its by any means bad) and it’s not that exciting to drive around town. The Emira’s supercharged torque makes it pretty easy to lug around and the supercharger whine when you really step on it is lovely. Read more

The Cayenne is genuinely awesome to drive, and I say that as someone who daily drives a 911. It always has been. I love driving super fast, super sporty cars but sometimes we have to talk about/drive what people actually buy too. Read more

Over reported. Ditto with bore scoring. A little preventative maintenance will take care of things (mostly for resale value). Read more
