As far as photo setups go for mid-century French cars go, this isn’t all that weird. Mom in a Renault 4CV, with kid and dad climbing on the hood, determinedly snapping photos, and sure, the intensity is a little comical. But that’s not the key part here.

You know what is? That radio blanking plate. Have you ever seen a more lovely radio blanking plate? Usually those blanking plates are void contemptuous reminders of our own lack of resources or crippling perfidy. But not here. Here it’s a canvas, an opportunity for gleeful ornamentation.
