Upon realizing recently that everyone around here has all the fun while I’m stuck doing insane management tasks, I decided to have some fun myself. My companion for the weekend is a 2018 Honda Civic Type R. Ask me what you want to know about it?
You probably know the drill already, but in case not, here goes: 306 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque from a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder with glorious front wheel drive and more aero features than a damn fighter jet. Carbon fiber, six-speed manual, red racing-style bucket seats, and a wing that makes a Subaru WRX STI’s look buttoned down and conservative.
Speaking of, I’ve driven every other $40,000-ish hot hatch or sedan in its class, but not the Type R yet. I’m eager to see how it stacks up.
I haven’t gotten behind the wheel yet but Kristen and Raph are out joyriding in it now. (Even when it’s my car they still have all the fun!) We have some takes and a video coming soon.
