The Volvo V90 Cross Country Looks Remarkable In Person

I don’t know if there’s a normal car on the market that makes you feel like a more satisfied, better person than a full-size Volvo, and I’m not sure there’s a better Volvo than a big, tall wagon.

While I am not exactly a vigorous enthusiast of lifted wagons, I am a fan of lots of space and lots of ground clearance. The V90 Cross Country, a car I finally saw in person today, very much fits that mold. I would love to own one in twenty years, if it weren’t for my suspicion that all new cars now fall apart long before then.

I’ve driven an S90, if you’re curious, and it is a very wonderful and life-affirming vehicle. You think of other professorial people you’ve met who had full-sized Volvos, and their self-assured gleam reflects off of the quite tasteful interior. It is not overpowered; it is competent. The whole thing feels that way.
