I've had the pleasure of passing through La Grange, Texas on a few occasions. Nestled along the Colorado River it marks the end of the Hill Country and is not dissimilar in its undulating landscape and pastoral beauty from places I've visited in Germany. There's also a different kind of beauty at work, of course, as chronicled by ZZ Top in their song "La Grange." Yes, I'm talking about the "Chicken Ranch" brothel.

Whenever I hear those hot bluesy licks come in on a commercial or movie trailer I always wonder if the person who chose the song is aware that those tres hombres are singing about whores.
