Another year, another Gumball 3000 rally, where overly-entitled millionaires will dart from one end of a continent to another in their fancy, fancy supercars. This year will be unique because another famous rich dude will be making an appearance: Batman.
Well, not the Dark Knight himself, exactly, but his car. It seems that Team Galag, an anonymous group of Gumballers based out of Saudi Arabia, will be running thus year's rally in a replica Tumbler Batmobile built by a group of customizers from Florida.
The UK's Daily Mail has a few details on the car. They report that the car was built by Parker Brothers Concepts in Florida, weighs 2.5 tons and is wider than a truck, and is powered by a 6.2-liter V8 of unspecified origin with 400 horsepower.
Team Galag's website also says that while builders couldn't get exact blueprints for the car, they reconstructed it using various photos and clips from the Dark Knight movies. The end result is impressive, and the car should turn more than a few heads when the rally commences on May 18 in Copenhagen.
Under most circumstances, we think the Gumball 3000 is an event for rich douchebags, but I have to concede that this Batmobile replica is pretty badass. Let's hope the race is free of the fatal crashes that have sometimes plagued it in years past — or else the folks in the Tumbler might be motivated to enact some Batman-style justice on dangerous drivers.
