The custom car world is genuinely overflowing with LS swaps, 1JZ and 2JZ swaps, and Hellcat swaps, but it’s not every day that you see content creators manage to squeeze a 6.8-liter Ford Triton V10 under the hood of a 2017 Lincoln Continental. I first saw the inaugural start-up of this Frankenstein build on Instagram and promptly dove down the rabbit hole of the Build It Yourself YouTube channel to see what possessed these guys to attempt such an impressive (stupid) build.

I was pleasantly surprised to learn that the BIY guys look to be doing things properly, with thorough and intense modification to not only the V10 engine, but also the Continental itself. From fabricating custom four-valve heads for the Triton V10, to replacing the stock front subframe with one from a 2020 GT500, to transitioning the front-wheel-drive Lincoln into a rear-wheel-drive layout, these guys are going the extra mile to make their Conti into a totally different animal.

For the real engineering nerds, these guys do a great job explaining the intricacies of every aspect of the build. They fabricated a new firewall that was pushed back three-inches further than stock, a custom transmission tunnel to fit the MT-82 manual transmission that they rebuilt, and custom equal-length headers to make the Triton V10 scream like a classic F1 car. With such a thorough build the project has taken a long time, but you know it’s all going to be worth it once the final product is revealed. That final product being a V10-powered, rear-wheel-drive, 6-speed manual 2017 Lincoln Continental. Something casual to run to the shops with.
