Yesterday, we wanted to know your favorite rare, glorious automotive unicorn. Today, we want to recognize the mass-produced, over-worked, and under-appreciated. What's your favorite automotive mule?
I was so close to buying a new Ford Ranger a few years ago. A RWD vehicle, under $15K with a manual transmission and enough room to haul a studio apartment's worth of flatpack is a rare thing and there's something so wonderfully purposeful about the Ranger. Forget that it's been outclassed, out-sized, and out-powered by its rivals. Forget it's a design older than Miley Cyrus. Forget all of that. It's cheap and it gets the job done every time. Driving it just feels right, feels American.
Bring us your poor interiors, your tired designs, your mass-produced autos yearning to be appreciated!
