If you know us, you know we love playing car simulators. Always have. In honor of the release of GT5 Prologue we've been holding on to a few video game QOTD's. Today's question goes back to that earliest era of truly great car sims: the 1980's. Though they didn't have realistic damage modeling, they did have color graphics, kicking soundtracks and viewpoints that moved from above the car to behind the steering wheel. There are so many greats.
Our personal favorite, for purely sentimental reasons, was SEGA's Hang On for the Sega Master System. That's right, you can keep your NES, we rocked the Master system, green jacket and all. But there were some serious other games. Spy Hunter? Pole Position? Anyone remember The Duel: Test Drive 2, which pitted the Porsche 959 against the Ferrari F40? That was a knuckle-snapping good time. There are so many great games from that era with various levels of play, story and graphical accomplishment. Determining a best is tough, because this sort of thing is so personal. So let's just say "favorite" game of the era (console/arcade/whatever). (h/t MaxiChamp]
