There are some cars you just don't expect to be practical.

Take, for instance, the new Corvette. It's a two-seater sports car with a huge V8. You'd figure it would be a cramped, gas-sucking affair.

But there's a hatchback, so it actually has some amount of usable storage, and the huge V8 has so much power on reserve it can happily shut down half of its cylinders and get strangely good highway mileage.
