Competing in one of the most desirable cars there is at the coolest endurance race in the world is every gearhead's dream. What does it actually take for two young drivers to race a V12 Aston Martin at the Green Hell?
The drivers are Johannes and Ferdinand Stuck, the grandsons of Hans Stuck and sons of Hans-Joachim Stuck. They're like the Andrettis of Austria. Their car is an Aston V12 Vantage GT3, having graduated from a GT3 Gallardo they took up to second place in the GT Masters Championship last year.
The short film they've made, "Brothers Pursuit," shows what it's like to prepare for the Nürburgring 24, and how easily a top finish can slip away from you. A number of setbacks, starting with a tire failure just 24 minutes into the race, saw them finish 101st out of 111 finishers and 169 starting teams.
It's still fascinating to see two drivers deal with such a frustrating race, and watch just how endurance racing claims so many cars.
