It was said that as MG Rover was in its death throes, the company's design team, under the guidance of chief Peter Stevens, was busy cranking out a bunch of new designs for prospective buyer Shanghai Automotive — likely to express the viability of keeping the company's studio intact. Now, Stevens — who recently penned Prodrive's Impreza-powered P2 prototype — has released some sketches of the cars his team proposed. One, a new Midget may have been based on the company's TF sportster. Another, a front-engined roadster, quite possibly could have worn an Austin-Healey badge. While the latter might one day surface in an Austin-Healey revival, we're not betting our boots of Spanish leather on a rebirth anytime soon.
