We tend to talk and talk incessantly about the BMW M3, about how great it was, how great they are, blah blah blah. But what few people remember to talk about is what came in between the original and the one we have today.

But with the next-generation 2014 BMW M3 coming out, the guys at ElectricFederal decided to take a bit of a retrospective of what the new one is supposed to live up to – even if it meant that sometimes the M3's performance was just "alright," and the interiors were cheap, and not everything was "OH EM GEE INCREDIBLE."

I had this bad girl under my watch last weekend. It's track prepped, and the motor has been massaged a bit, so it's quite different from a fully stock M3, but the ethos remains. This car isn't pushed through twisty sections of mountain road, it's guided or ushered. You never feel overwhelmed by the mass, it's compliant and stiff at the same time. The perfect car.
