Every year the Navy tests out its submarine crews in the Arctic. They call it ICEX and it looks amazing.
This appears to be from the 2011 exercises with the Virginia-class USS New Hampshire and the Seawolf-Class USS Connecticut.
These subs were surfacing north of Prudhoe Bay, Alaska at the Applied Physics Laboratory Ice Station, constructed by the University of Washington's Applied Physics Laboratory, and members of the U.S., Canadian, and British navies for ICEX.
