Just over two weeks ago, Winfried Vahland was CEO of Škoda, Volkswagen’s Czech entry-level brand. Then, in the shake-ups prompted by Dieselgate, he was appointed chief of Volkswagen’s newly-formed North American unit. Now, he’d like to send you his resumé. I think it’s on LinkedIn?
Reuters, citing a now-confirmed earlier story from AutoBild, suggests that Vahland resigned due to differences over VW’s U.S. strategy.
The UK’s Autocar reports that included their diesel strategy, like using engines that incorporate cleaner-diesel technologies like AdBlue and selective catalytic reduction.
It’s not yet known exactly what specifically Vahland wanted to do differently than his bosses, but maybe now that he has some free time he’ll write us a guest column or something. Wilfried, just let us know!
