"This is a carjacking," one of them said, reaching for his waistband. These two gang members did not know they were speaking to a San Diego police detective in an unmarked car. Oops.
The detective identified himself to the two men in their twenties and drew his gun. They ran off into an apartment complex and the detective lost them on foot. The attempted carjacking occurred last night at 9:30 in the Colina Del Sol neighborhood (pictured above).
