If one of Germany's regional ministers has his way, autobahn drivers in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia may soon be able to make U-turns to escape traffic jams. The turns would only be legal only with police consent and assistance, which is wise, considering a left-lane-to-left-lane switch could involve merging with traffic traveling, oh I dunno, say 1,000 miles per hour.
