Pistonheads is reporting that German carmakers may give up the unwritten rule that's led most of them to impose electronic speed limiters on their high-performance cars, constraining models that could go much faster to 155mph. Of course, in the US such limits are purely theoretical for those who keep to the double nickels, but in Germany, where much of the autobahn is unrestricted, Mercedes (non-AMG), Audi and BMW owners are reportedly sick of being dusted by lesser makes — and smug Porsche owners, whose cars are un-limited. Word is that Audi, BMW and Lexus are all considering lifting the limit, or getting rid of it altogether, on some models.
