I get the feeling that any car within a hundred miles of another constitutes traffic in the backcountry down there.

There's another thing Australian Scouts(which, unlike the US Boy Scouts, don't have a gender restriction) do with their Rovers Section(which is members from 18-26) called Banana Bash - basically, a massive weekend rally with home-built cars that can't cost more than a certain amount. Essentially, it's Mad Max Lemons, on dirt and driven with the absolute disregard for their own mortality that only Australians can muster. And usually less leather. Until the evening festivities at least.
