Shena Hardin, the Ohio woman caught driving on the sidewalk to get around a schoolbus, had to carry out her punishment this week.
As ordered by a judge, she had to stand on a busy Cleveland intersection, holding a hand-lettered sign reading "Only an idiot would drive on the sidewalk to avoid a school bus."
Hardin didn't look overly excited to be there, and fended off the inevitable media circus with silence and a cold glare. She wore sunglasses, talked on her cell phone, and smoked a cigarette as they crowded around, asking if she was sorry for what she'd done.
The scene reminded me of my days as a high school substitute teacher. You couldn't see Hardin's eyes behind her huge black shades, but the eye-rolling was palpable. Oh well, even though Hardin wasn't enthused, it's good to see that there are still journalists left over to cover something other than the Petraeus-Broadwell sex scandal. (Hat tip to Paul!)
